| Post subject: | Birthday present ideas? |
My girlfriend and I are 22 years old. We have been together for about 3 months now, and her birthday is coming up soon. I think it's too early in the relationship to be buying her really exotic, materialistic things, so I am trying to think of something to get her (or even do with her) that would make her happy as fuck. I know it's kind of hard to think of things since you obviously don't know her, but can anyone lay out a few good ideas they've heard or used in the past? |

Mind telling what she is studying/where she's working, highlight interests, just make it a lil easyer..? |

Go out together shortly before her birthday "just because." Stroll past a few places you think she might like. Pay attention to the things she lingers to look at. Pay more attention to the things she gets really excited about, and pick one of them up later when you're alone. What's important isn't that the gift is expensive, but that you paid enough attention and cared enough to notice when she really liked something. Your boy, 870 |

Quote: Turn an inside joke or funny shared experience into a tangible gift.
Hobbit is right here, I did that naturally without thinking of it like that. So this is what I actually did. I once told my ex-gf that she's Nurse Joy and I'm Brock (from Pokemon). She laughed hard and said that I made her day. Now Brock, is a character that always chases after Nurse Joy and falls head over heels for her everytime. This was the tangible gift I made:

If you buy her something impressive, you will have to try and live up to the last gift you bought her and then be obliged to impressive her more and more every time. My advice is to stick to intangible things (a weekend trip, wine/beer tasting, picnic, paint ball etc.), things that are consumables (chocolates, dinner) or things that last a limited time (flowers). Even small things like a card that you made will suffice because it shows you put in effort, you care and you are creative and unconventional. |

I read somewhere that experiences i.e. travel tend to make you happier than material things |

yeah i think people remmeber what they've done in the past more rather than what someone has gotten them lol. |

Alright, thanks for all the comments everyone. I finally figured out what to do, even though I'm pretty sure I went way overboard. Oh well, at least she'll be all over my nuts for the next week until she forgets about it. Flowers, a card with a poem I wrote (yeah, I know, fuck off), and along with the poem there is a little note that explains to her what plans I have for her over the weekend. This includes a professional full-body massage and a trip to a restaurant she's been dying to try but hasn't been able to since it's an hour away. |

-maybe you play some musical instruments? You could record something for her ,upload on YT and give her link -you can make a painting for her -you can record songs she like on the old tape and give it to her -you can write a poem, and call her at 11:59 p.m. the day before her birthday and recite it to her I think that bests gifts are those made with own hands (not bought in a shop). Girls like this kind of stuff. It always works |

I just rewatched the animated powerpoint slide show card i made as a valetnines day gift for my GF. It was drawn using the microsoft shapes and included all the things she liked. It was original, contained everything she liked and it lasts forever so in 50 years time (providing there's backwards compatibility) she can still watch it Quote: Dick in a box.
I can guess your mothers day present
