Hey guys! So I am in an long distance long term open relationship for a year now and my GF gave me an ultimatum to either have "normal relations" from now or to break up. We saw each other 4 times over the last year for a total of about 10 weeks. We live 3500km far away from each other. She is tired of me being able to have other girls, so we should only be there for each other, etc. She can't take it living with the thoughts of an open relationship. She doesn't want to accept that it makes her not lose interest in me if I have the possibility to sleep with other women and vice versa with her and other men. What would you do in that situation? TIA, Hawk I agree, open rs don`t work. If thats a problem for her, tell her that you are ok with "normal" rs and if you can`t be faithfull, don`t be, she probably won`t be either. Anyway, your rs probably don`t have future as such (3500 km distance??) so its not important anyhow. |

Heres the thing....alot of stuff sounds amazing in theory but in reality there not. An open relationship is one thing that sounds amazing in theory but it will never work. |

What would you do in that situation? Forget what we would do, what do YOU want to do? Personally, I do not see the point on dating a girl you see for 10 weeks out of the year. A big part of any relationship is physical contact on a regular basis. If you do not have that, what's the point? I have never been involved in an open-relationship, so i can not speak from experience, but I know that long-distance relationships do not work. My recommendation is to find someone local to spend time with. |

Thank you for your interesting answers! In the end there was a misunderstanding as she has problems with MLTRs but not with open relationships. She doesn't want me to have other girlfriends, which I am totally okay with also. She sees though that an open relationship is a good counteraction against arguing and fighting in relationships caused by "cheating". So the situation is fine now. I see her as my future wife and she will live with me, possibly very soon, that's why I will not give up on that LDLTR that most people seem to see as hopeless. Hawk |

TIA, Hawk Lol I was going to say alot but everyone else already said it. if youre worried enough about losing her to post here, you should be worried about losing her enough to only be with her. just my opinion though |
