Post subject:  Did I Overreact?

So I had a bad night last night. Friend gave me some pill and I was drinking and it messed me up hard. I felt horrible (puking etc..)

Anyways this morning my girl txts me and I reply saying I feel terrible after my buddy gave me some pill. (shes against drugs)

I was in rough shape and told her I was kinda freaked out. She asked me why I took it and I told her I was juiced and being stupid, peer pressure etc..

She replies, "Way to have a backbone" Which immediatly pissed me off, so I replied "Wow, thanks alot. I really appreciate that. Ttyl"

She calls me and says "well what did you expect me to say? etc..." So I give her one word answers because I'm trying not to lose my temper. The convo ended pretty rough. But there was no name calling or anything.

It just really pissed me off cause she wasnt concerned about me at all she was just all pissy. And she insulted/judged me which I can't stand.

So did I overreact? Its our first fight. Should I call her or give her the freeze out? I've got plenty of relatioship experience, but im sorta see-sawing about this one, and am tempted to call up another girl for the night.

Any advice would be deeply appreciated, Thanks bros!

well, you did over react, but your reply actually wasn't bad. It implied that you were actually coming to her for help, which is an awesome was to emotionally escalate.

But then after she called, and wanted to resolve something, or be there to help listen to you...you were short and straight and probably being a dick. In that situation, rather than fighting yourself not to lose your cool, just simply say: "I think I need a couple minutes to cool down and clear my head. I will call you back ______ "

Simple as that. It shows that she did upset you, but that you can control your reaction. Drama free, then you just communicate once you do cool down. Explain how you were actually looking for some comfort, rather than judgment

He did something that he knew would piss her off. I don't think she viewed it as emotionally escalating even if it might have been implied.

I agree with all that.

I had a similar situation as yours but with steroids instead. I told my ex about it and she freaked out as yours did. I kept my cool and once she cooled down we talked about it. I eventually explained everything to her but she threw a few shit tests my way before it was all said and done. So try to keep it as drama free as possible but be ready for the shit tests to ensue.

First of all, great Avatar, House is the man. 8)

Personally, I don't think you over reacted. She shouldn't have come back with such a pissy response. You kept your cool if you ask me. I would have ignored her call until the next day. But, that's just me...
