Had a girlfriend once who used to talk about her ex boyfriend a lot but only because "they had a lot of experiences together." They were still close. She knew it bothered me but kept doing it so... shit test? I didn't know how to handle it though so i thought that i should probably get it handled so it doesn't happen again. Suggestion box open. |

Well I got an idea. You've got to be cool about this. Think James Dean. Get her ex-boyfriend's phone number. Next time she brings him up, put that confident, cool, collected grin on, pick up your cell phone, dial the boyfriend and tell him " Hey, I got a girl here who talks about you all the time,,, here she is". And toss her the phone. It's a big mind-fuck. You've got to have some "brass" ones to pull it off. |

I've dealt with this situation before; she also came up with the same reason for bringing up his name (their experiences together). I told her that she is obviously still into this guy and that it's probably a good idea for us to go our separate ways. After she realized I was serious, and that I had no problem letting her go, she did a 180 and I never heard his name again. |

think of the flipside of this. When I get serious with a girl the ex gf comes up. I don't talk about her often, and only brought her up once or twice with my current gf. And I still love my ex gf, we broke up almost 2 years ago, we were friends for 2 years before we got serious. She's the only girl i've ever told that i love too. If my current gf pulled this little stunt, I don't think she'd get the results she expected. I love talking to her, and we still talk once a month or so, and text every once in awhile. And it took me about 8 months to get over her, and I sure as hell talked about her a lot, but I knew I wouldn't get back together with her. Might be different if she broke up with me. |

The above suggestion would make you look like a jealous little bitch. Just freeze her out whenever she starts doing that, OR, mabye she isnt ready to be in a relationship for you, and your going to have to be honest with yourself on that one. She may not be over her ex yet, if her stories are positive ones. |

Tell her something like. "really, you two should have been together, what happened ?" Let her talk about the things that went wrong, that would remind her of the reasons she broke up with him. At times when ppl are out of a relationship they hold on to the good things. I once had a girl who would bring up her ex and at that very moment I would bring up my ex and tell her how much fun it was being w/ my ex. and then talk for 2 more minutes abiut her until this girl would ask me why are we talking about my ex. haha.... after two or three times she got the hint and never brought up her ex again. Be cool and indifferent about it. BTW... I like that phone move. Thats fun !! |
