Post subject:  Seek advice on Long Distance Relationship

Hi guys,

im in sort of a dilemma here. There is this girl that I love.
I've known her for a long time, we've been like best friends
and around a month ago we started having a thing.
Problem is, she studies abroad and comes home around every
4 months. Additionally, she has a boyfriend. but he also studies
in another country. They got to know each other when he had
a year off to study in the country she's in. He went back now.

Thing is, I really really love her. There are a couple of girls
I got to know over the past, and she is really just my type.
I dont wanna lose her, but im aware that a long distance relationship
would be too tough on both of us. And her bf is actually a really
good one. She has feelings for him too, and she feels bad for
starting the thing with me. But she also loves me, and we have
this deep bond. It's like she's got these feelings for both of us.

What im asking is, should I go for a long distance relationship?
We would have to be apart for 4 (!) years, only seeing each other
every 4 months. Are there ways to keep up an LDR over such a
timespan? I know, some people would advice to let this go and
get another girl. But I couldn't just fill the void
with some other girl, it's really tough. It wouldn't be fair to her,
and it's not what i want...

Please help me get wiser on this, i want to see things from
new angles.

Thanks in advance

any relationship is tough. I will be posting a big thread on long distance relationships soon....but I will say, if you have the ability, patience, and care to handle a long distance relationship, there is nothing better.

I had an unsuccesful long distance relationship a few years ago when I was a freshman in college, and they NEVER work unless 2 things are present. Those are:

1) Time together before she moves away so you know those feelings are real, and
2) A vast, enormous amount of mutual trust in each other

If those aren't there, prepare to be dissapointed.

I'd be willing to bet you're not much older or younger than I was when I tested out a long distance relationship. Just keep your options open, bro.

Good luck mate,

JB
