Long distance never works. Maybe if it's for one or two months tops. Otherwise, no.

Do you currently have a girlfriend? I just want to have that made clear.

And second... Why would you want to be in one? For what? When you can be with a woman that you can be with from your local area? Whats the point in committing to a woman you can't even sleep with or that can't do anything but text and call you when you can be with a woman who can sleep with you, touch you and hang out with you?

You're settling for less than you have to.

Bullshit. I was in a LDR for 5 months.

Long distance relationships do work if both parties are commited, but let me tell you, you might not really want this. Except for the few days where you see your girlfriend, you will only be getting the negative sides from both worlds: being single and being in a relationship.

In my humble opinion, a LDR ONLY makes sense if you both have TANGIBLE and FEASIBLE plans that will lead to you guys being together. If not, may as well break it off, as you are investing into a dead end (the same can be said for regular relationships; but in a LDR, the struggle is real). Man, fuck LDRs. They will cost you money. Vacation days. Patience. You will be endlessly frustrated about the things you cannot do with girls. If you are going to do this, you better have a solid reason to do so.

I made an LDR last 6 years. In-between visits, I slept with over 100 women.

Does a LDR work? Yes it can. If you like the girl that much, that you want to go through the hard parts as not seeing each other as much and not as much sex as usual, then yeah.

Do I recommend a LDR? No I don't. It is simply much harder then a relationship with normal distances, only works when both parties are being very committed.

A long distance relationship does not compare to an actual live together relationship. So if you're thinking that by continuing a relationship through long distance contact by phone, e-mail, snail mail, SPAM, etc; , then you've gotta be aware that once you do get together and continue a live in relationship that the whole dynamics of the relationship changes.

The every day habits and synchronicity of the two people is not really apparent through long distance contact. So it can be a bit of a 50/50 chance that you might like them better,or you might find things that start to turn you off, once you live together after thinking that you had come to know some one via a long distant relationship.

A long distance relationship might work if you both allready know each other quite well and realize that because of distance, the real growth and getting to know each other more, will be kind of limited. And all that stuff about true love has no distance is all fairy tales. Yes you can still love some one with all your heart and distance will have no boundary's.

But in the real world it takes present contact and day to day living with each other to tell if you are a compatible couple. Of course this is all relevant as to what each person wants to contribute to, and get from the relationship.
Sharing long distance relationship gifts is also another way to make your relationship strong.

So i see it that long distance relationships can be a good idea if you really feel for each other. How ever they're not a true indication that the relationship is solid and substantial
