My friend, who is a girl, is going through a pretty bad break-up, it happened on Sunday... There's no way they're getting back together... My question is simply how do I comfort her, and get her through this? Just be generally happy and distract her from the heartbreak she constantly endures... talk to her.. hug her... encourage her to talk... what? Is this one of those questiosn that only I know the answer too- i.e. it's pointless to ask? what? |

Probably encourage her to talk... and just listen. Sounds like she's a close friend? Spend heaps of time with her, at times when she doesn't talk do No 1: Cheer her up, be fun and distract her. |

Of course man, comfort her. Do not give her reasons to feel better, instead, MAKE her feel better. Be compassionate and comforting, and be fun at the same time. Remember, you need to match the wavelength of her mood first and then take her mood up to the level of your (fun) mood. Take her out, make her forget. |

If you're a really close friend - don't let anyone take advantage of her. She might do some things she will regret for the rest of her life. |

If you've been on this site, you probably have read some of the posts surrounding how to get over oneitis, how to get over heartbreak, etc. If you're a good friend, I'd share some of that with her somehow. |
