"Keeping the Love You Find" by Harville Hendrix is by far the best self-help book on relationships that I know of. It is a guide for singles. He also has a book out for couples. Basically, he takes you on a journey from your infancy through childhood to adulthood and indicates various "wounds" along the way i.e. emotional scars.

His theories are based on the concept of the "Imago" partner/mate/lover. That is a sort of mirror image of you, your ideal mate. The old saying "opposites attract" comes into play a bit here. For example, maybe at one stage in your childhood, your parent(s) were overbearing and kept a tight reign on you and you eventually rebelled against them and thus your relationships seem to be at a distance. The opposite might be a person whose parent(s) were carefree and let them come and go as they pleased while denying them affection... this person develops a need to cling to any sort of relationship they can.

There are a ton more examples of these as well as exercises throughout the book. I highly recommend this book to those of you wishing to sharpen your mind with regards to relationships. It's not technically a PUA book, but I found it way more valuable than that. Check it out at your library or Amazon has used copies for a penny.

Best of luck,
Chicoman

Anyone know if this is available in eBook format? I haven't had any luck finding it. Not asking for it for free as I'd gladly pay, but I'm not having any luck searching for it anywhere.
