I'm aware that saying NO is one of the pillars of being Alpha and in control. My question is: if you find an excuse as to why you're saying NO (something came up at work... etc) instead of saying NO "because you don't feel like it", does it have the same effect? Or should I make it a point to let her know that the reason I'm saying NO is because I don't feel like doing what she asked me? |

She asked me to take her somewhere that's gonna be super fun for her, but extremely boring for me. She doesn't have a car, and it's a 1 hour drive to get there. The way I see it, I have 3 options: 1. NO, something came up at work and I have to go to the office. 2. NO, I don't want to go. 3. What's in it for me? Will we have sex in the car on our way over? Will I get a 20 minute massage whenever I choose to? |

I agree with Lode. But I did have an interesting situation yesterday. I told my GF that I don't want her taking any of my cars to work. I don't know why. It never bothered me and I had no reason for it. I just said no without thinking. She was hurt thinking I don't trust her. And I felt like an idiot not having ANY reason to give her and knowing that if I back down it will look like she made puppy eyes and I gave her keys to my car. One of rare moments where "Cuz I don't feel like it" didn't cut it. I have more than one car and it looked like I'm being an asshole. |

Alright I hear your point you don't want to go, but think about long term. Do you want to have this girl as a fwb or possibly gf, then get your ass in a car, and drive there, get an ipod/usb connector and just play music. Then just make it fun, laugh at stupid things, make her like you more than the event... If you hae no interest, which I dont see being the case since you posted this, than say I am not really in the mood to go, and forget her. Why do you even need to lie if she is just for a quick lay? I can promise you will find more! |

@Richard Pryor: As I see it there are two options: 1) you take her. Not cuz she made you do it but cuz you like to see her happy. 2) If you have a reason not to take her (even if it actualy is that you just really don't fell like it). Than tell her that. And that is that. You decided, you gave her your reason. Case closed. But if it's just about 1 hour drive in each direction. Is it really so important for you to "be alpha" that you don't want to do something to make your GIRLFRIEND happy? |
