I think priming is the most discreet way of suggestion. Priming is basically preparing the mind to think in one way or another. For example, there was a study done (mind you I can't think of the details) in which people were spoken to using words like "old, weak, weary", etc. After this, the people who were spoken to walked away at a slower pace. This is because their mind had been primed with old age/weakness. The same goes for talking about something uplifting and joyful. You've primed their mind to be in a positive state. The choice of what you can do with this is endless. A good 3-step way of coming up with your own is as follows (credit to Igor Ledochowski): 1. Begin with the end in mind - What kind of place does the mind need to be in order to naturally follow the suggestions. 2. Free associate - Think of many different words that relate to the scene in step 1. 3. Now start to use all this vocabulary in a different context to what you're suggesting. |

There's no real magic to embedded commands. In and of themselves you can't accomplish much with them. I generally mark them out with a downward inflection, an eye change, or something subtle like that. I try to aim to use 15-21 commands of the same theme for any hint of a suggestion to come through.What's more important is the context (story, conversation) you're saying them in. It's "CONVERSATIONAL hypnosis", NOT "say as much of the Milton Model hypnosis", as most of the SSers seem to believe. |

I don´t understand what you mean by "discreet suggestions". Could you clarify exactly what it is you mean_If you mean embedded commands, then there´s not much to give in an example... If you want somebody to move out of your way, you give the command to "move out of my way", etc. You say what you want them to do. Nothing more to it. The real beauty is in fitting it into the conversation in a subtle way, and in a compelling way. I´m not going to go into much detail on how to convey suggestions in a subtle, compelling way, because that IS conversational hypnosis, and as well as not being qualified to teach it, there are hundreds of programs which do a better job than I ever could (namely Igor Ledochowski´s course). Conversational hypnosis is a massive field and it would be impossible to distill it into one message (in fact, we´re discovering more aqbout it every day so the study could go on forever). |
