OK, to start with, I have been reading and watching videos about NLP and I must say I am really impressed so far. Although I am a bit sceptical about the use of it, I genuinely believe most of the concepts are true and useful. The reason I am sceptical about it is that I find it hard to believe people are so easily manipulated without their own knowledge, thank Darren Brown for this .. he has some videos that are just hard to believe and seem like acts played by actors rather than true events based on true people, "Events - The Heist" would be a good example (feel free to show me that I'm wrong, I would like that) although I find all of his videos very entertaining. Now, I know in order to be good at NLP you have to practice more than you learn and I plan on taking it step by step, but before I can start using NLP on other people I have to first learn how to use it on myself so that I can become confident of using without sounding like a crazy person Anchoring, I read the post about anchoring and I'm quite familiar with it, but what I cannot seem to do is find a way to elicit this feelings within me and make them so powerful to remember, might be because I smoked certain plants for about a year and a half, recently quit and feeling very good, or I might just have a problem, anyway ... I'm really looking for someone who can clear this up for me Could someone give details on how to do this and what are the best emotions to anchor and how to reinforce them? Could someone give me more examples of NLP used on myself other than Anchoring? Could someone give me some ideas on how to improve my communication skills with or without the use of NLP ? Thank you. I wont be able to help you too much, as I've never learned any formal kind of anchoring. I'm just here to comments on Derren Brown. LostAFC Derren is an illusionist who uses a mix of "magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship". Never has Derren claimed to have used NLP and in his book he somewhat denounces it. What you see in Derren's shows are rarely done the way he leads you to believe. |

Basically, anchoring is all about getting yourself in a heightened emotional state (if you're trying to put an anchor in someone else, then put them in this state), and then setting a trigger that will trigger the feeling that you have gotten yourself into. LostAFC An example for that would be when you smell something you havent smelled in ages, and it suddenly takes you back to the last time you smelled it, which is a naturally occuring anchor (happened to me recently So what this means is, basically, get yourself in the emotional state you wish to trigger (in your case you said its a happy, confident state), and then set a trigger, which can be set using any of the 5 senses (smell, taste, vision, feeling and hearing). Hope i helped |

or you can also do anchoring through medidation (kind of a hypsnos). for example if you want to anchor the feeling of being happy...simply imagine doing something that makes your really happy. get all your senses invlolved..how does what your imagioning smell like, feel like, touch feel like etc...keep going into a deeper and more deeper state of happyness and once you are truly happy set your anchor...touch your nose, make a fist whatever...do this multiple times a week to strengthen it. |

Here's an easy one: 1) Enter the state you want to anchor. You can use visualizations or what ever works for you. 2) Choose a song you have no emotional associations with. 3) Listen to the song while breathing deeply and relaxing. 4) Blank your mind, go into another state. (fractionate) 5) Repeat the above steps 3 times. Now every time you hear the song that feeling should come up. People are hypnosis machines and they anchor themselves all the time. |
