I've been lurking this forum for a while, so when you see that single-digit post count, you can feel assured that I'm not here to ask a lame question ;)

I've been studying RJ's Speed Seduction for a while now. I found a lot of the seminar material (especially the hyper-responsiveness seminar) quite advanced and hard to apply. On the other hand, the free modules he put up were very helpful and put me in a position such that I see what's going on in his demonstrations. Unfortunately, I've been misapplying these things by imitating his surface-level behavior and not the foundation.

Now, to deepen and broaden my understanding to a practicable level, I've begun learning NLP in general. I've grabbed some books and I'm beginning the journey. I'll post here with updates on my progress.

Good move. Don't just memorize patterns.

Learn the structure and why they work and create your own. See how language affects people's model of reality.

Thanks for the supportive reply, MH.

I went into the memorized pattern phase when I first read about "patterns" without any of the inner game backing; they were surprisingly effective, even though I was crippling them at the time. However, improvisation applies my strengths better than memorization and regurgitation, so I quickly got over that.

A bit on my progress:

I've been noticing people's eye cues and habits for a while; now, I'm getting better and better at remembering them and interpreting them. Many people are irregular (or maybe just the people I deal with!), so the real skill is the ability to elicit and and remember them. Pointing them out creeps people out, though. I'll take the hint and silently use it to my advantage.

Thinking through NLP presuppositions, such as that people make the perfect decisions given their beliefs, circumstances, and intended outcomes exposes a lot of information about them. We'll see where this goes.

'til next time,
Asmo

Welcome aboard, soldier! I'm also a speed seduction and NLP student myself. Been studying for about 3 weeks now. I never really liked the idea of using a memorized script, I've been practicing by myself trying to make the patterns on the stop. I think I'm getting pretty good BUT I have no experience using this material on people. I get this guilty feeling, nervous and chicken out. Any advice from you gentlemen?
