I know there's a thread for newbies to NLP with loads of information on books but I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a specific book with exercises in it? something to help me start trying to put NLP into practice. I've read "Introducing NLP" by joesph o'connor et al and there's a lot to take in. Obviously the best way to learn NLP is with a practitioner, but as i don't have the opportunity to do that can anyone reccomend a book? does anyone know if this book is any good: "NLP: Workbook: A Practical Guide to Achieving the Results You Want" by joesph o'conner ? and a question for the guys who are more experienced in NLP; can you learn to use NLP by reading a book? how did you get started and did you do practical training? I'd be greatful if you shared your wisdom |

I learned while I was in Iraq lol. I ordered a very disciplined, very rigorous, and VERY expensive study course for both practitioner and master practitioner. Luckily, I had a room mate so I could rehearse all the techniques with him. It will pay off in spades to have a study-buddy. If you can come up with the green to attend a seminar or course, do it. Honestly, the Introducing NLP book is a great place to start. There are quite a few free resources on the web as well. Like I said, get a study-buddy, especially if you intend to use NLP in communicating with others. |

So im pretty much at your same level trying to learn NLP, caught the name of a book while reading the game, and went to my local library and picked it up its "frogs to princes" by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, although its a little aged (by a little i mean 25 years old) it still gave me a solid grasp of the basics. Also "Handbook of NLP : A Manual for Professional Communicators" has an exercise section in it and i read it as an ebook online, now its time to try and practice, i just need some non-field targets to toy with a little first |
