| Post subject: | Question about trance words? |
hey what's up fellas? The last few days i've been having itsy bitsy pieces of talk about NLP with some friends. I'd describe it something along the line as... (setting: you're talking to someone casually) me: how was your day thus far? person: sooo tiring! Work was so exhausting, then i hit up the gym and now i'm completely beat. me: wow you MUST be "tired", such a day would be sooo exhausting. I'm sure when you finally get home to sleep, you'll be too beat to even brush your teeth." Is this a proper example? Maybe you wouldn't recite it back to them almost THAT mirrored, using ALL of their adjectives....but you get the idea. Another question is...how the hell do you file away all the trance words for any specific person? A friend you may be able to get used to if you REALLY listen that u'll automatically know which words are most common among them. But at work i have fluff talk with a lot of strangers, in such a setting where i'm thinking about how to continue the conversation until their gas tank fills up, REALLY putting in effort in catching every single word doesn't feel possible. I get the dreaded feeling of having listened, they wouldn't have said anything i can really branch off of, now we are stuck in a silence. Idk if it's good or bad, but i take pride in being able to stay away from complete drops in conversation, and maybe part of this is my preplanning while they are talking. Granted i still know what is being said, but when it comes down to SPECIFIC words in order to mirror back, how the fuck do you have the brain capacity to do all these things at once? Thanks for reading,! |

The brain is very good at recognizing patterns (the regular word, not a SS pattern). You can identify a trance word by noticing which words they say often. If they've only said it once, it's not a trance word. |

A word someone says that is different, or unique to that person or just a word they use more then once. The point in knowing their trance word is because when you say it they feel like they have a special connection with you. So the point is to find out what words they say and use them in conversation. |

Trance words are words a person uses because it means something to them. for example, if you're talking about what it's like to feel connected with someone but she interrupts you and says it is like "chemistry", then "chemistry" is her trance word and you would substitute her trance word in the incredible connection pattern. Substitute "chemistry" for the word "connection". For a beginner, the easiest way to repeat her personal trance words is to use it almost as soon as you heard her use it. Why? So you won't forget it. The way I do it, is I just quote someone and say, "yeah, I agree, my friend said that it is important to FEEL THAT CHEMISTRY, WITH ME, in my opinion, i totally agree" There are also canned trance words like: suddenly, realize, imagine, picture, ponder, remember, etc. these canned trance words can be found in Ross's basic home study course. |
