| Post subject: | New to the PUA community, wondering where I should start? |
Hi everyone, I've read bits and pieces of PUA history and material. There seems to be quite a bit out there as far as material and styles. Is Mystery still relevant? I understand he was pretty instrumental in laying the groundwork for most modern techniques. If so or if not what is some good material to start with? I have The Game but I've read that that's more of just a good story than a guide. I should mention my biggest hurdles right now are my often crippling social anxiety and lack of aggrssiveness. It might be misleading to say I have social anxiety bc I'm not shy whatsoever, I am very outgoing and talkative, and I've been told I'm very charming and have a lot of personality. Its just that my full personality often doesn't get showcased bc I get nervous or anxious in certain settings/social situations. If I had to guess I'd say a lot of it is directly related to my lack of confidence due to where I'm at in life. I come from a pretty large and successful family and I've kind of been an underachiever. I'm sure getting nervous when approaching isn't uncommon but for me it causes awkward jitteriness and unnatural/odd movements/stiffness and body language. I've strongly considered getting on meds for it or even to use as needed to avoid addiction but I thought improving my pick up abilities couldn't hurt either and that the success it could bring me would help improve my confidence and alleviate some of my anxiety. It's frustrating bc most people have told me I'm very attractive, and so I get plenty of attention and opportunities which are often sabotaged by my anxiety and awkwardness. I just want to achieve my full potential! Thanks in advance for any help and sorry this was so long. |

Your beliefs shape your reality. Your beliefs can be highly affected by negative self-talk. Want to feel better? Eliminate negative self-talk. Eliminate self-doubt entirely. Believe in yourself. In fact, why not believe in yourself? There's no way to prove that any other person in this world actually exists. We could all just be figments of your imagination. So if you don't believe in yourself then no one else will. In other words, you're the star here. Make other people guests in YOUR reality. Your belief system is what you need to work on the most right now. Learn to love yourself. Think critically about who you are and who you want to be. Ignore any negative self-talk that contradicts who you want to be and develop positive affirmations that help guide you down your chosen path. There are a couple ways to approach using affirmations. You can make up affirmations about qualities you wish you had (uses fake it til you make it principle, i.e. if you say things to yourself long enough then eventually you'll believe these things) or you can use affirmations about qualities which you already have and are proud of. For example, make up a few positive affirmations (e.g. I have a lot more to offer than most other guys out there... I'm more interesting, I know how to have a good time, I have big dreams and a strong work-ethic, etc.) and repeat them to yourself when you need an ego boost. Most importantly: Go out and practice. Develop a few DHV stories, grab a few canned openers if you need to, and hit the field. Nothing gives you more confidence than real-world success. But keep in mind, those who are most successful also experience the most "failure". These are actually learning opportunities. Be ready to "fail" or "get rejected" and learn from these experiences. Edison didn't perfect the light bulb on his first try, and we wouldn't know him as we do today if he didn't stick to it. |

your beliefs and your actions define you,if you are willing to change and do whatever you need to do to achieve this you are already set apart from most guys who are too afraid to do something to improve their lives, easy way out would be for example taking, like you wrote, medications for certain condition,or choose to improve your condition by working on yourself, most people will take pills, that being said, you are already above most people, start giving yourself pros,go out, take action and learn, you will get this handled, good luck |
