Post subject:  The Game by Neil Strauss
Hey guys. I have just finished The Game and found it fantastic, much better than the DavidD stuff. Has anyone tried the openers/routines/negs for themselves? Do you have success with it?

Spires,
"The Game" is more like a novel than an actual how-to manual.
To answer your question, I have not actually tried Style's material, other than the cube, and yes it works tremendously! How long have you been in the PUA community?

The Game is a very good book. It is entertaining and sometimes go very deeply about the analysis on some social interactions. Some routines there are quite good but I recommend you not to rely on them so much. You see, routines are tools in your arsenal, but it must be ultimately YOU who the girl is attracted to, so improving your personality, your life, and inner game is the most important.

I joined this site yesterday. I've been making strides for a couple of years but never really threw myself into PUA until the last few weeks. It took a trip to Amsterdam to pull me out of my malaise would you believe. I've always had AA and self confidence issues which I won't go into in detail but come from childhood. The thing is I am good looking, fit and dress well so have a lot of it in place. I really do look after myself. Now I am learning openers, routines, NLP, The Cube, astrology, a few magic tricks, ESP etc. I believe that with a few successes under my belt that the confidence will grow to a point where I will be natural at it. I looked at a lot of the DavidD stuff which was good but it didn't click with me on the same level as The Game. I attempted some sarging last weekend but I was drinking which I now know I must cut out until I get this down as I made a jackass out of myself once or twice. I thought I negged a girl but actually insulted her :-) ! There is a fine line with negging. My next step is to up the ante with peacocking.

See this is the problem... You don't get confidence from success. It's the other way around. You get success when you're confident. If you NEED success to be confident about yourself you will never have it. That's why you need to focus on other parts of your life and build an attractive life-style and get concious about that it is attractive. If you know you're attractive the girls will be just all over you without the magic tricks. This way you will not only get laid, but you will improve your life!

My favourite one is "If I wasn't gay you would be so mine". Tryed it shit loads of times. I've found tho that it only works if the girls is by herself or with other boys. But that was when I was a newbie I think i can now handle the whole group even if the girl i open with that opener is not the only girl in the group.

I've read The Game and found that it was a great book. When I bought it, I expected it to be a "how to" sort of a book, but I found it basically told Neil's story, and while doing that, the book has a lot of different advice/techniques etc. I thought the book was so good that I'm actually just starting to read it again for the second time to make sure I didn't miss anything!

the game is an awesome read! it's sometimes difficult to believe what happened, because i guess it's told in a dramatic narrative sort of way but i believe it.

and yeah these guys are right it's more of an introduction to 'the game' rather than a handbook on it.

Inner game is first and foremost, that is correct. You say you know you are fit and can dress well, so try this: Stand in front of a mirror and say to yourself, "Damn, I'm lookin sexy." It sounds dumb, but tell yourself enough times and you will believe it. You can use this technique with all dynamics of your inner game, i.e. personality, talents, career success.

I was never good with sleight of hand magic tricks, but I took up contact juggling with the fushigi ball and it works for me. You just have to remember that you can't be the entertaining dancing bear or you get stuck as the stage goon, so go easy on the magic tricks.

It helps tremendously to have a mentor and/or have someone film you (secretly of course) in field. I had a friend film me in field, and I was able to spot everything I was doing wrong when I watched it at home.
